EDWARDSVILLE – As social distancing restrictions continue to lift and the weather finally starts... I also want to say when this was at its worst and he was so weak I found that 1/2 organic chicken broth with warm distilled water kept him hydrated & interested. When dealing with anything concerning the heart, don't forget to include CQ10 & Hawthorne . These are good for any dog, strengthens heart.

We put him on a high quality diet, gave him 1 odorless garlic cap every morning, and I squeeze 1/2 of a fish oil capsule on his food at night. Because my Maltese x has a bladder tumor it has become imperitive to rid him of parasites all of them. Please EVERYONE read PET FOODS EXPOSED it might help with a lot of problems we face with sick dogs. Along with the diet he has a capsule of BETAGLUCAN in little warm milk of a morning & DHA from BioCueticals, our animals do not get enough Omega 3s. Be careful of any fish oil, lots of heavy metals. Also he is on medicinal mushrooms to boost the immune system.
Diet and a Healthy Immune System
There is also a sites on the net that you can order from. I now use a different brand for prevention, it is a tincture of blk walnut and wormwood, 5 days on and two days rest. I give my dog tablets vit c and capsule of garlic .

Garlic contains allicin, a natural blood thinner, so don’t pair garlic with aspirin, ginko biloba, and other natural or pharmaceutical medications against blood clots. Garlic is safe for dogs to consume up to 20 garlic cloves a day, as new research suggests that garlic is just as an effective dewormer as its less safe counterpart ivermectin. Crush 2 to 3 whole cloves and add to your dog’s food daily (make sure that you don’t use more than 1 clove per 10 lbs of your pet’s weight). Give you dog 1 tsp of coconut oil for every 10 pounds of body weight in its food. Add 1/8 tsp of wormwood tincture per 30 pounds of your dog’s weight within to their food.
My dog has heartworms. My vet started her on monthly prevention before he started treatment. Is this OK?
Following treatment, your dog will be started on a heartworm preventative. At this time, there is not a commercially available vaccine for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs or cats. However, research scientists are looking at this possibility. Right now, heartworm disease can only be prevented through the regular and appropriate use of preventive medications, which are prescribed by your veterinarian.
But first let’s look at what causes this disease. Weigh your dog regularly; heartworms can cause lack of appetite and therefore weight loss. Giving HWF can help him get his appetite back and gain weight. Use the recommended HWF dose base on your dog’s current weight to safely continue with the remedy. As soon as all the paperwork was done I took her to my vet.
What are the symptoms of a dog dying of heartworms?
I chose to give them to her only April- September when the main mosquito problem existed. She had been heartworm tested once before & negative - during her annual exam, & shots. Over the Spring/Summer & the next Spring when I brought her in for her checkup, shots, and new meds... I knew she could not have been infected long enough with heartworm - as she did not show any signs yet. No cough, no tiredness/lethargy, and no bad coat/skin.

Pay attention to these warning signs of heartworms in dogs, and take your pet to the vet if these symptoms persist. We also know that areas can have heartworm infection in wild species such as coyotes, and these infected wild animals can be a source of infection to your dog or cat as well. Despite the fact that heartworm disease may not be diagnosed as often in Arizona as in some other states, it is definitely present. In fact, heartworm disease has been found in nearly every county in the state.
Home Remedies for Heartworm Prevention in Dogs
Symptoms of this distress include coughing, fatigue, open-mouth and/or rapid breathing, and pale blue or muddy gum color. The American Heartworm Society recommends year-round prevention for ferrets as well as regular checkups with a veterinarian to ensure they stay healthy and heartworm-free. This includes administering a heartworm preventive medication to an infected dog for 2 months prior to melarsomine treatment. Heartworm is a scrounging infection of the arteries and the heart close to the lungs that results when mosquito bites transfer the larvae of a parasitic roundworm in your cat or dog. The maturation of the infecting heartworms takes about 6 months, but they can stay dormant even longer.
Will help with iron absorption and decrease anemia from long term use of turmeric or calcium supplements. Just be sure he gets plenty of red meat, or add some liver. These topical remedies plus changing his PH internally with the baking soda water should bring your boy relief.
Alternatively, you can give your dog coconut milk in the amount of 1 oz. For every 10 pounds of body weight mixed into its meals. Talk to your veterinarian if your dog is very uncomfortable or becomes worse over time. Give the third injection of melarsomine one day after the second.

My vet told me that heart worm preventative kills the babies, but not the adult heartworms. So ater two years the adult heartworms will mostly die of old age. If the dog survives all the baby heartworms dying and the dog survives three months, then it is likely it will survive the two/three years it takes for the adults to die.
While infected dogs may have 30 or more worms in their heart and lungs, cats usually have 6 or fewer—and may have just one or two. But while the severity of heartworm disease in dogs is related to the number of worm, in cats, just one or two worms can make a cat very ill. Diagnosis can be complicated, requiring a physical exam, an X-ray, a complete blood count and several kinds of blood test. Heartworm disease is a serious, progressive disease. The earlier it is detected, the better the chances the pet will recover.
One Artemesia first thing in the morning and one in the evening on an empty stomach so the properties have a chance to kill parasites without having to be blended with a full meal. Most dogs have no problems with this formula on an empty stomach. If your dog does, you can give as much food as necessary with it, but this is a rare necessity. There are myriad brands of black walnut, wormwood, and so on, and they come in tinctures and powders and solid capsules and so on. If there was not natural cures for heartworm, our wildlife would be dropping off like flies. Especially in the warmer climates like Texas and anywhere where heat and humidity are high for most of the year.
This is also great for lead training and socialising them because they get to have a sniff around and get used to their environment quicker. The only other issue is that the antibiotic, combined with the previous treatment, can make their wee stronger. Again, this isn’t a major problem but if you have a garden with grass/ plants I would suggest keeping a watering can handy or the hose, and just wash off they wee after they’ve gone. We used a herbal tonic from herbalist Caraf Avnayt successfully for our Westie’s heart worm. We are looking into natural flea treatments now. It was interesting that yours got the heart worm after a systemic flea treatment.
